So often I get distracted by the minor deals in the Scriptures that I miss the main point. The book of Acts is not about churches being started, souls being saved, or doctrines in the churches, even though those details are in there. The book of Acts is about how the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought about the empowering of the Holy Spirit upon the churches of Christ. It is a message of encouragement to the churches still today that we have power through His Spirit to bring Him honor and glory.
God's Wonderful Plan Acts 2:22-24
Peter proclaimed God's plan to approve, crucify, and raise up Jesus of Nazareth in the presences of Israel.
Transition Acts 1:1-5
The book of Acts is a book of transition. It is the transition of Jesus earthly leadership to His leadership through the Holy Spirit. It is also a transition from the Gospel to the Epistles. But the most significant transition happens with His disciples. Jesus is transitioning them from being simple followers to Spirit empowered Kingdom builders.
It is great to be discipled by Christ and His Word, but there comes a point in life when we need to be transitioned from being discipled to making disciples. The whole purpose of being discipled is allowing the Holy Spirit to empower you to disciple others.
