Why is it important to join a church?

We are grateful for your interest in possibly becoming a member of Calvary Baptist Church. People occasionally ask, “Why should I actually join a church? Is there anything about joining a church in the Bible? Maybe I could just come and sit as a spectator.” There are answers to those questions! The Bible says that when we become Christians, we are to be joined together in the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13, 27). We should become a part of a local body of believers (church).

We believe it is God’s plan for every Christian to be more than a spectator in a church. God wants us to be a member and vital part of a local body of believers so that we can receive the encouragement and nourishment that comes from being with other Christians. As a member of Calvary Baptist Church, we make a commitment to our church; to give, to be faithful in our attendance, and to serve others. However, the road does not end there. The church is committed to you;
to watch over you, to nourish you, to encourage you, and to hold you accountable.

We hope that you will seriously consider becoming a part of Calvary Baptist Church. However, if you decide not to join here, remember God wishes for you to be part of a Bible-believing spiritual congregation.

How can I join the church?

If you are interested in joining the church, we are glad to help! At the conclusion of every Worship Service is a time of invitation, where you may come forward and request to join Calvary Baptist Church. Or you may schedule a time to visit with our pastor. In any case, we are always available and ready to answer your questions, helping to guide you through this process.
